The last leaf on the cherry tree.
Status:
I guess you call a day like today a self-care day? Other than my therapy session (went well, I think - one of those hard-to-tell ones which were probably more useful than they seemed) and a call with the niece in New Zealand (finished her degree this week) I’ve mostly been resting and recuperating. Haven’t even done much internetting, as you’ll see below. In fact I’m not really sure what I did today. Normal service will probably resume.
Overnight listening:
Music:
- Sook-Yin Lee - Wigs ‘n’ Guns - somehow I missed that Sook-Yin Lee was also a recording musician. This DIY recording from 1996 is rough around the edges, but in a good way. Later recordings are really intriguing too.
Reading:
- Thomas Pynchon’s introduction to Jim Dodge’s Stone Junction, a book I loved a couple of decades ago which I’ve been thinking about re-reading.
If we accept the notion that using power against the powerless is wrong, a clear enough set of corollaries begins to emerge. We become able to distinguish, as populations (though not always their rulers) have usually been able to do, between outlaws and evil-doers, between outlawry and sin.
Jigsaws completed:
- Big Eyes - originally photographed Digbeth, 2016
