Feeling pretty grumpy today, having the annoying feelings and the headaches that go with them. It’ll pass but I’m no fun to be around.
Spent a bit of time today setting up online shopping with Morrisons, our local supermarket, to take some of the shopping chores away from Fi. You would think you’d be able to scan the barcodes of the stuff in your cupboard, but no, you have to search for each item individually. I’m going to blame this on Morrisons being bought by asset-stripping private equity goons. Still, it kept my mind occupied for a while.
Overnight listening:
- Origin Story: 15-Minute Cities – How urban design entered the culture war - kinda delightful to hear grumpy old Ian Dunt be totally won over by the 15-minute city concept. The gendered nature of the opposition is kinda obvious but hadn’t really occurred to me.
Music:
- The Disintegration Loops - revisiting after yesterday’s article and this really is a remarkable piece of work. I can totally picture William Basinski blasting it out of the speakers on his roof knowing he’s got something important but not knowing exactly what it is until the twin towers fell. Well worth your time.
Reading:
- We need to talk about naked mole rats.
- Right about the problems but hilariously, tragically wrong about the solutions - back atcha, matey.
Watching:
- Africa (Toto)…but it lists every country in Africa (1:41)
- Colin Furze: Secret Garage Update #18 Loverly Legs (40:57) - Colin can be a bit much but I do enjoy his second channel where he goes into more detail about what he’s building.
