Had my first session with my new therapist from Meridian today. They’re a charity that offer means-tested discounted therapy with trainee therapists. It was a life-saver for me as I navigated the brain-melting confusion of chronic fatigue while on the waiting list for a specialist. I’m getting more structured support from the NHS now, so the mental burden isn’t quite so unbearable, but when my previous therapist finished her studies in January we decided it was worth continuing.
It was a getting-to-know-you session so nothing too heavy and it was good to vocalise everything that’s happened to me to a new person and get that overview perspective. I was slightly surprised to go back and see this has been going on for at least four years now. Four years used to be a really long time but it seems to have just flown by. But maybe that’s just aging.
Even though it wasn’t the most intense of sessions it was still an hour of talking and thinking so by the end I was pretty wiped out. I’m still not properly recovered from the weekend’s crash and likely won’t be for a few days.

- Pop Will Eat Itself - Covers (EP) — From the “Every Number One in the NME Indie Charts” blog. Is it possible to like PWEI as a grown adult or are they best left to teenage memories? I identify with the author here as a youth and do occasionally revisit This Is This but I will concede Box Frenzy, no matter how much I enjoyed it at the time, is not going to get an anniversary post in the Quietus.
- The Post-Meritocracy Manifesto — via someone on my feed asking for a short explainer of why meritocracy is a bad idea. Gonna keep this to hand.

- Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff — Trying out a new history podcast about progressive people from the past who pushed the needle a bit in the right direction. Started with two episodes of Molly Crabapple talking about the Jewish Bund, which were great, although I’m already aware of the subject matter. Next to try an episode with someone I know nothing about.
