Having that weird feeling when your neighbourhood is in the national news and people are posting things about it that are just a tiny little bit wrong. It’s taking all my willpower not to correct them.
Reading:
- The greatest literature ever published in English, as voted for by authors, critics and academics worldwide. — Amused and mildly disconcerted to discover I have read none of these, and I used to be a bookseller, even running the fiction department for a while. In my defence they’re all a bit obvious, there was no rush at the time. And once I’d read Underworld I guess I felt I’d done my bit. But even so…
- Once Upon a Time in Harlem documentary finally gets global premiere 50 years after cameras rolled — This looks so good, and another for my 1972 file.
- Quaker parents were ahead of their time 🪜 — "The nearly 375-year-old religion’s principles line up surprisingly well with modern parenting research."

- In Our Time: The Garamantes — You know how maps of the ancient world have nothing south of the Mediterranean coast? Turns out there was plenty going on including irrigation of the Sahara desert. Fascinating archeology stuff.
