Can Birmingham’s best dish come back from the brink? — When I first moved to Birmingham in the mid 90s as a student we would eat out all the time because balti’s were incredibly cheap. Friends visiting from other cities would be astonished at the bill. Amusing local note - the Royal Watan is 1.2 miles away from Stirchley, not “bordering” it. And we’re not gentrified yet.

- Practical Engineering: Why roads get washboards (17:53) — These being the ripples in dirt roads that make them uncomfortable to drive on. Same physics as sand dunes and I found a lot of echoes here of minimalist music. Fascinating video.
