Ideally this would have been a rest day but Tuesday is psychotherapy day so no rest just yet. The session went well but afterwards it was clear my battery was exhausted and I got a bit stress triggered by a couple of thoughts sending me into a brain spiral. The annoying thing is I know how to stop these — the trusty box breathing exercise — but when I’m in a spiral it’s the last thing on my mind. Eventually I’ll train myself to recognise the symptoms in the moment and do the right thing, just as I recognise tinnitus as a signal to stop and rest, but not just yet.
I have nothing in my diary for a week or so now and am hoping to get back to my routine of pottering around the house and blogging. The last couple of weeks, while lovely in places, have felt a bit non-stop doing and recovering and I need some time to just be myself at a more healthy pace. And recognising this is a damn fine piece of progress, I must say.
- Every US electrical outlet explained (21:32) — Being from the UK, where we have one type of plug and then another bigger one if you’re in a factory and need 3-phase, this was mind-boggling.
- Stories from Senegal — A nice long post from my friends who are cycling through Africa at the moment.
- 🎶 Aster, atlas by Sara Parkman — The Supersonic newsletter let me know she’s playing Birmingham in January and I was intrigued. Liking what I hear so far.
